ISO images
Live runs the system from a USB drive. Install lets you install it to disk. Check availability and the verification instructions before preparing the media.
Version 1.2.1: ISOs not published
The package repository is available. The ISOs are still awaiting publication; for now, you can read the build guide or learn the differences between the two images below.
Live and Install
- NVG Live
Try without installing
To be confirmed at releaseRuns the system from a USB drive, with KDE Plasma. It does not include the installer and does not require an internet connection.
- NVG Install
Install to disk
To be confirmed at releaseIncludes the Live payload and a Rust installer that runs in the terminal. The basic installation is offline; recovering a remote profile requires a connection.
Live lets you test the environment and hardware compatibility. To install, prepare a USB drive with the Install image.
Verifying the image
Before writing the ISO, verify the SHA-256 checksum and the GPG signature. The examples below use the Live image; for Install, use the matching files.
- 1 · SHA-256
Verify integrity
The checksum detects differences between the downloaded file and the published value. It does not prove where the image came from.
sha256sum -c NeovanguardOS-Live-1.2.1-x86_64.iso.sha256The expected result is the file name followed by OK. That confirms integrity; check the signature as well.
- 2 · signature
Verify the signature
The signature ties the image to the release key. To verify it, the matching public key must be imported into GPG.
gpg --verify NeovanguardOS-Live-1.2.1-x86_64.iso.asc NeovanguardOS-Live-1.2.1-x86_64.isoCheck the full fingerprint of the key used for the signature. The expected value is:
